. Trials for drosophila mating
. Description:
Natso and Jessica are trying to compare the mating success between using virgin female drosophila and mated ones. 4 column of drosophila "couples" were placed under light, two in black background and 2 in white. Within each background group the column on the left are virgin females.
For 1 hour of observation, virgin groups showed significantly higher mating success. But more cases in white background.(only a test, really low sample size.)
Procedures:
1. put individuals together in one tube.
2. place them respectively into the background "seats"
3. start the timing thing and observe.
4. get out the ones started mating and mark the time it took on the tube.
Prepare CO2 gun:
1. make the main switch loose
2. turn AGA(blue) valve till there's reading.
3. turn on the switch of the pump
4. inject the gun into the tube and put the flies down
5. place the ones on the white board and collect them
